The annual Massey community reunion will be held at the Massey Volunteer Fire Department Sat., Oct. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. This year’s event will feature the stores and businesses that used to be located around McKendree UMC. McKendree United Methodist Women met Wed., Aug. 15, at the Carpenter’s Cabinet in Falkville for their regular monthly meeting. A devotional entitled “The Dash” was presented by Wyllene Carter.

It was about the time in life between the birth date and death, and how the time should be spent thanking God for our blessings, having a positive attitude and helping others.

The UMW voted to give donations to several projects, including the Carpenter’s Cabinet food bank, which was organized some time ago to help families in need.

Billy Vest, vice president of the food bank, led a tour of the facility and explained how donated food items are used to put food on the tables of needy families in the area. UMW members attending the meeting were Sally Kerr, Tammy Vest, Kay Farrer, Wyllene Carter and Ruth Lewis.

In addition to enjoying lunch, they delivered lunches to shut-ins who were unable to attend. The next UMW meeting will be Wed., Sept. 19, at the McKendree Library.

The Neel Senior Center is open form 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and is open to anyone 60 and older.

Those who attend enjoy a variety of games, hot lunches and fellowship. Transportation is available. For more information, call 256-773-3242.
