Tigers finish fall camp with scrimmage

Hartselle ended its fall training camp Saturday with a scrimmage prior to its annual Meet the Tigers dinner.

Head coach Bob Godsey said he was pleased with the scrimmage and the way the whole camp has gone the last three weeks.

“This was a really tough week for our team,” Godsey said. “That second week is always the toughest week of the year. That’s when we really get into a grind and we push our players. We didn’t push as much (on Friday) so we could get our legs back under us to get ready for the scrimmage.”

“The best part about is that we came out of the week and today’s scrimmage without any major injuries.”

Godsey said he also felt good about the competition during the scrimmage.

“If one side dominates a scrimmage, you really don’t feel good about it, but I felt both sides competed well,” Godsey said. “That’s all you can ask is to get good competition out there.

“But overall it’s been a good camp for us.”

The Tigers will get their first competition against an opponent Friday when they will play Huntsville in a preseason jamboree. The teams will play varsity starters for the first half and then let backups and junior varsity in the second half.

Dodge Test Drive

The Hartselle Quarterback Club will once again be participating in the Dodge Test Drive Event on Friday, Aug. 24, from 4-7 p.m. prior to the jamboree with Huntsville.

Club members are asking as many local residents age 18 and older to test drive the vehicles.  Dodge will the pay the QB Club $20.00 for every test drive.
