Traffic stop in results in drug find, stolen vehicle

Two people were arrested following a traffic stop Friday morning, in which officers found marijuana.

A Morgan County patrol deputy made a traffic stop in Hartselle on Hwy 31 near Peck Funeral Home for a minor traffic violation. However, the vehicle driven had been reported stolen in Michigan.

The driver, April White, and the passenger, Jamie Knowles, were arrested. Both suspects also had outstanding warrants for there arrests in Morgan County for Knowles and in Cullman County for White.

The officer also searched the vehicle and found pills, marijuana and a large amount of cash. The Morgan County Drug Task Force was called to the scene and identified several Xanax pills and four grams of marijuana on the suspects. Neither subject claimed ownership of illegal drugs found.

Knowles was charged with possession of marijuana first degree and was on probation for a prior marijuana possession first degree in Madison County at the time of the arrest. White was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) and possession of marijuana second degree. The suspects are in the Morgan County Jail on bonds of $2,500 and $2,800 for Knowles and White respectively.
