Ward receives doctorate in education

Hartselle High School English instructor Jerome Ward received a doctoral degree in higher education from the University of Alabama recently.

Ward is a dual enrollment and advanced Placement instructor and has the additional responsibility of serving as lead English teacher for grades six through 12.

“This has alwaysbeen a goal of mine but I didn’t get really serious about achieving it until about four years ago,” Ward said. “I know I have become a better educator and I thank the administration for being so kind and helpful along the way.”

Ward will be entering his 13th year as a Hartselle High English teacher when the next school term begins. He also served as an English instructor at Wallace State Community College for two years, from 2007 to 2009.

Ward also holds a bachelor’s degree in English and history from Athens State University and a master’s degree in English from UNA.

He and his wife Tracy are the parents of three sons, Aden, 15, Ty, 13 and Eli, 11.
