3 charged with making meth

Three people were arrested Thursday night after agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force investigated numerous complaints about a possible methamphetamine lab at 68 First Road in Hartselle.

Residents complained that traffic was constantly in and out at all hours of the day and night and numerous people were involved and were believed to be making meth.

Morgan County deputies have been dispatched to residence and area several times this month on reports of disturbances and drug activity.

Agents contacted the property owner, Joyce Sampson, who gave the officers consent to search her residence. When the officers asked to speak with Brandon French, 27, inside residence, the suspect allegedly ran into bathroom and attempted to dispose a coffee filter containing methamphetamine in toilet.

After obtaining a search warrant for residence, two one-pot meth abs, an amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found along with chemicals and equipment used in the manufacturing process.

Arrested were French, 20-year-old Blaine Rex Childers and 20-year-old Melissa Leann Chaney. Each was charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. The suspects were decontaminated before being transported to the Morgan County Jail due to chemical exposure being present in an active meth lab. The suspects are being held on a $5,000 bond each.
