One drops out, another joins BOE race
While one candidate has dropped out of the race for Hartselle’s first elected school board, another has joined the race.
Former Hartselle councilman Frank Jones has qualified in Board of Education Place 5. That places him against R. Bruyne Rollins, who is currently the only current Board of Education member facing opposition at this time.
Marguerite “Micki” Smith had qualified to run against Dr. James Joy for Board of Education Place 3, but Smith has since had to drop out of the race due to a family illness.
City Clerk/Controller Rita Lee said she has an appointment at 4 p.m. Tuesday with Venita Jones, who attended the workshop for prospective board of education candidates last month.
Qualifying ends Tuesday at 5 p.m.
