Ferguson hired as new softball coach
Falkville softball coach Christy Ferguson has been hired to be the new Hartselle High School head softball coach.
Ferguson is already a physical education teacher in the school system and has previously been a Hartselle assistant coach. She helped lead the Lady Blue Devils to the Class 2A North Regional.
Ferguson is replacing Robin Riley, who became the head coach days before the season began after Daniel Bates resigned to take a management position with a new business in his hometown of Tanner.
Riley was an assistant coach with the junior varsity team for three years and assistant coach with the varsity team in 2011 prior to becoming the head coach. The Lady Tigers finished the season 36-15 and were eliminated in the Class 5A regional tournament.
