SNAP gets Stephenson estate gift

The estate of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Floyd Stephenson recently donated $802.39 to the final phase of the John Mark Stallings Special Needs Accessible Playground (SNAP) in Hartselle.

That amount was acquired from the sale of metal for recycling from the Stephenson’s former residence in Tuscumbia. The presentation was made by Freda Thompson (third from the left) as a representative of the estate of her aunt and uncle. Accepting the check was the SNAP Project Manager, Bob Francis (second from the left). Also present were Billy McAbee (left) and Myron Thompson (right), both of whom assisted with sorting, transporting, and preparing the metal for recycling.

Mr. McAbee initiated the Scrap for SNAP effort following a gigantic rummage sale for SNAP in July 2011. As of the end of May 2012, he had separately raised over $1,040 by recycling metal collected and contributed by numerous donors. To donate metal for funding this extraordinary project, contact him at 256-566-3631.
