Sarah Ann Edde and Megan Smith have been twirling partners for years even before they were on the Hartselle High School majorette line.

Now, those two seniors will continue to be majorettes a few more years. Smith, the daughter of Jeff and Pam Smith, was recently named a Crimsonette for the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band while Edde, daughter of Charles and Nanette Edde, will be a majorette for the Troy University Sound of the South Marching Band.

“It’s exciting to get this opportunity,” said Smith, who was among the hundreds who auditioned for the Crimsonettes. “It’s such a great honor to be a part of the Crimsonettes.”

While Smith knew she made it the weekend she tried out, Edde had to wait a few weeks to find out.

“That was the hardest part – not knowing whether I made it or not,” Edde said. “But when I finally found out, I was excited.”

Edde and Smith have been majorettes all during their high school career. During their time, the majorettes have successful, winning Best in Class during fall marching competitions each year. The reason for that was their work ethic and the help of the majorette teacher Kim Robertson and HHS band director Randall Key.

“There’s no way we would be where we are without Ms. Robertson,” Edde said. “She’s helped push us to be the best we can be.”

“Mr. Key is a great band director and has inspired us to do our best,” Smith said.
