Hartselle JV softball wins Cullman tourney

Hartselle’s JV softball team finished the Cullman JV Tournament this weekend unscathed to capture the championship.

The closest call came in the championship game against Bob Jones. The Lady Tigers (23-5) exploded for five runs in the second inning to take a commanding 6-2 lead.

But Bob Jones rallied in seventh inning, scoring three runs, but that’s all they could get on Jada Hayes, who picked up the win for Hartselle. She allowed seven hits, four walks and four earned runs while striking out five batters.

Leading the hitting were Riley Corum, Hannah Jenkins and Morgan Braun, who all had two hits for the game. Corum and Braun both had RBIs while Emily Lipinski, Ali Forth, Haley Jared and Hayes all collected hits. Hayes had a double.

Taylor Wascavage, Forth, Jared, Jenkins, Lipinski and Braun all scored runs while Wascavage had two stolen bases and Lipinski had one stolen base.
