HHS work progresses
“Mostly in the dry” were the words Jim Maynard of Martin & Cobey Construction used to describe the construction progress at the new Hartselle High School at the April board meeting.
Work should be completed to enclose one of the main structures. Ceiling grid installation should begin the last week of April in the first floor areas of the C wing and proceed to the other wings. One milestone Maynard also mentioned was the roof structure being competed over the mechanical room by May 16.
“This will enable crews to have HVAC in the classroom buildings, which is necessary for the construction work scheduled to take place after that date,” Maynard said.
Also the board approved a landscaping bid for the new school from Triple J Construction, LLC for $281,746.
Jeff Little of Goodwin, Mills & Cawood also informed the board that plans are nearing completion for the proposed field house and should be sent out for bids in May. Little also spoke about the re-roofing projects for Crestline Elementary as well as the current high school cafeteria.. Currently five bids have been received and the opening is set for today (April 18) at 2 p.m. The bids will be separate projects since there are differences in the work to be completed. The cafeteria roof will require deck work to be done before the roof can be replaced.
