Accused thief linked to forgery case
A Danville man caught breaking into vehicle at Decatur’s Walmart is facing additional charges related to a forgery case in March.
On Monday, Decatur Police received a report of a suspicious person in the parking lot of Walmart looking into vehicles.
Officer Timothy Jackson spoke with Walmart employees and was given a description of the suspect. Jackson later located the subject later identified as John Phillip Hale, 20, of 934 Neel School Road in Danville, who was still in the parking lot.
Hale was arrested and charged with unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle. The property stolen from the vehicle was recovered.
Hale was also linked to stolen and forged checks case that was reported March 13. As a result of that investigation, Hale was charged with two counts of second-degree forgery. He is being held at the Morgan County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
