HHS track team finishes 2nd, 3rd at Huntsville

Hartselle High School’s track team collected seven first place individual awards and finished second in the girls division and third in the boys division at the Huntsville Panther Invitational on Saturday.

Quanesha Burks finished first in all of her events giving her 40 points. She finished with a distance of 18-08.00 in the long jump and 37-08.00 in the triple jump. She also finished with a time of 12.72 in the 100m dash and 25.48 in the 200m dash.

Haley Baker finished 7th in the 800m dash with a time of 2:48.22, scoring her 2 points.

Billie Shelton finished 4th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 19.12, giving her 5 points. She then ran in the 300m hurdles and finished 3rd with a time of 53.99, giving her an extra 6 points.

The girls 4x100m relay finished 7th with a time of 59.40, giving them 4 points. The team consisted of Alex Harris, Jessica Hickerson, Kelsey Rae Walling, and Billie Shelton.

The girls 4x400m relay team consisted of Haley Baker, Reagan Bowling, Jessica Hickerson, and Billie Shelton. They finished 5th with a time of 4:41.79, giving them 4 points.

The girls 4x800m relay team consisted of Haley Baker, Reagan Bowling, Jessica Hickerson, and Mallory Faulkner. They finished 4th overall with a time of 11:14.71, giving them 5 points.

Shelby Kaup finished 4th with a height of 4-06.00 in the high jump, giving her 4 points.

Elizabeth Russell finished 6th in the pole vault with a height of 7-00.00, giving her 4 points.

Kaeli Gerstman threw the discus a length of 71-04, giving her 4th place and 5 points.

Tori Blaylock threw the discus 62-09, giving her 5th place and 4 points.

Jessica Matthews threw the discus 58-05, giving her 6th place and 3 points. She would also throw the javelin a length of 95-06, giving her 5th place and 4 points.

Ashton Pennington threw the javelin a distance of 109-00, attaining 10 points and 1st place in the event.

Hunter Grantland finished 2nd in the 100m dash with a time of 11.47.

Jordan Frazier finished 1st in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.44, giving him 10 points. He would return in the 300m hurdles but finished 2nd with a time of 43.46, giving him 8 points. He would then land in 3rd place in the triple jump with a distance of 39-09.00, giving him 6 points.

Jonathan Duncan finished 1st in the 800m run with a time of 2:05.91. He also finished 1st in the 1600m with a time of 4:41.85.

The boys 4x100m relay team consisted of Hunter Grantland, D’Andre Mack, Ja’mal Jackson, and Jaylan Jackson. They finished the race in 7th place with a time of 45.52.

The boys 4x400m relay team consisted of Jordan Frazier, Hunter Grantland, Steven Cleek, Jonathan Duncan. They finished 5th with an overall time of 3:48.57.

The boys 4x800m relay team was Jonathan Duncan, John Paulsen, Chase Barrett, and Matt Watson. They finished 6th overall with a time of 9:35.75.

Bradley Lovill finished 6th in the discus, throwing a distance of 94-00. He also threw the javelin 104-11, giving him 4th place.

Caleb Lewis threw the discus 87-10 giving him 1 point and 8th place.

Greg Filiatrault threw the javelin 87-11 giving him 1 point and 8th place.

Hartselle will not compete during Spring Break but they will return to the field April 14th at Guntersville.
