Lady Tigers hold on to defeat LCHS 7-6
Hartselle’s Lady Tigers survived a late run by Lawrence County High School’s Lady Red Devils to grab a 7-6 win at home Monday afternoon.
Trailing 3-7 after six innings, Lawrence County rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh and had the game-tying run on third based with one out. However, a strikeout and a grounder hit to second baseman Ashley Boggs ended the threat.
The win improved Hartselle’s record to 15-2 while Lawrence County dropped to 16-8.
The game was tied at 1-all after the first inning and 2-all after two innings. Hartselle went up 4-2 in the third and added three runs in the third to take a 7-3 lead.
The Lady Tigers out-hit their opponent 9-7. Boggs and Leah Stephenson led the way with a double and single each. Emily Nix had a pair of singles and two RBI’s, Baylee Holt doubled, Madeline Sittason singled and had two RBI’s and Sarah Ellen Battles had a single.
Kayla Faulk went the distance on the mound and was credited with the win. She allowed six runs on seven hits while striking out three batters, walking one batter and hitting a batter.
