Council decides to reappoint Sittason to BOE
The Hartselle City Council has agreed to let Jennifer Sittason to keep her position on the Board of Education, due to the short nature of this appointed term.
The Board of Education is changing from an appointed board to an elected board during this year’s municipal election cycle. Candidates will qualify in July for the August election.
The new board of education will take office in November. However, Sittason’s term expires in April, leaving the council to appoint one person to serve from April through October.
At its work session Monday, Councilman Tom Chappell said he felt like it would be best to reappoint Sittason because this term will be so short.
“That person will only be in office for just a few months,” Chappell said. “By the time the term ends, a new person would just be figuring out what to do.”
