James ‘Alton’ Boger

Funeral for James “Alton” Boger, 85, of Hartselle will be Sun., March 11, at 4:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wendell Callahan officiating.

Visitation will be Sun., March 11, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery beside his beloved wife, Norma.

Mr. Boger died Fri., March 9, 2012, at his residence. He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Morgan County to Julius Claudie Boger and Evie Callahan Boger. He married Norma Jean Vandiver Feb. 8, 1947, and was with her until her death Feb. 18, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 with Company C, 738th Military Police Battalion in the Asiatic-Pacific (Phillippines). He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a son, Bobby Ray Boger; and a brother, Albert Boger.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Boger Lewis and husband Ronnie of Danville; three brothers, Norman Boger and J.C. Boger and wife Helen, both of Hartselle, and Elmer Boger of Decatur; two sisters, Marie Smith and Forie McCaghren, both of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hughes Boger of Hartselle; three grandchildren, Penny Boger Wolodkewitsch and husband Gregg and Kristen Boger, both of Decatur and Audrey Lewis Crowe and husband Eddie of Danville; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob “Wyatt” Crowe and ”Preston” Travis  Crowe, both of Danville.

Pallbearers will be Don Boger, John Boger, Larry Cheatham, Nathan Hill, Randy Lewis and Tommy Orr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wyann Crowe, Preston Crowe and Caleb Lewis.

Special thanks go to Dr. P.J. Reddy, Becky Johnson, Alacare nurse, and Jill Van Voorst, caregiver.
