Elected officials help with unexpected utility bill at Somerville Assembly

We have had some unusual weather. I hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine and warm days.

We’re glad to report that Donna Orr is home after having knee surgery. He was able to attend church last Sunday. Prayers continue to go out for his complete recovery.

Prayers and love continue to go out for J.D. and Sally Williams.

Hillard and Jean Long dined out at Ryan’s Restaurant recently.

A special thank you goes out to Somerville’s elected officials for their help on a $1,600 water/sewage bill at Somerville Assembly. The church received the exceedingly large utility bill due to an undetected water line leak. Mayor Darren Tucker helped out by approving a reduction on the sewage side of the bill. The church will be hosting a gospel singing in the near future to help offset the unexpected expense. The church congregation asks you to remember them in your prayers and thoughts. The date of the benefit singing will be announced at a later date.

A big hello goes out to our friends at Soul Harbor Baptist Church.

Prayers go out for Norman Dempsey who had foot surgery last week. Prayers and love also go out for Wanda Taylor, Colleen Moore, Neal G Freeman, Gertrude Wray and Frank and Martha Gravatt.

We are very thankful that I-65 has been reopened to northbound traffic after being rerouted through Hartselle, Somerville and Priceville for nearly two weeks.

Jacob Moore spent a recent Saturday night with his mamaw. They enjoyed having a late night snack at Waffle House. Grandson Louis Daugette also spent the night with his mamaw.

Vickey Daugette and Gary Rice dined out at Ryan’s in Decatur on a recent Friday night.

A big hello goes out to Mary Kipple, Mary Grace Asherbranner, Vernon White, Draton Fowler and Mr. and Mrs. Roger McClure.

Congratulations to Ashley Daugette on getting a new CNA job.

Jayla Daugette spend a recent Saturday night with her cousins, Julie Daugette and Jeannie and Jaden Moore.

Prayers go out for Ronda Palmer.

Terry and Brenda Terry and Destiny enjoyed eating out at Ryan’s Restaurant recently.

A big hello goes out to Mildred Crowden.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Wade Stover.

Somerville Assembly had six visitors on Sunday morning.

Special prayers go out to Patrick and Charity Harrison. Their 16-year-old daughter Kayla lost her life in an automobile accident recently. She has a brother, Dylan, and her grandparents are Pat and Dianne Harrison of Springville. This young lady will be greatly missed in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a wonderful Christian girl. Our love and prayers go out to the family and friends she left behind.

A correction on a column a couple of weeks ago pertaining to the Key twins:

Richard and Carol are their grandparents, not her parents. They visited their new grandchildren in Kentucky last week. Congratulations.

We are very thankful that Dalton Helms wasn’t injured when his truck veered off Highway 36 between the 4-way stop and Cotaco recently. His truck went through some woods and ended in hitting a tree head-on.

The Brewer varsity baseball team played in a tournament at East Lawrence on Saturday.

Community league baseball and softball practices are under way.

Good luck goes out to the coaches and players. We hope they have a great season of fun and competition.

If anyone has seen a stray cow around Nelson Hollow Road or Antioch Road, please call me or Rev. Equator Black at 265-778-7375. He had a cow get out of the fence and hasn’t been able to find her. She was last seen on Antioch Road.

Call me with your news items at 256-621-0292. Have a blessed and safe week.
