Funeral for Nell Tanner Howell, 78, of Hartselle will be Thur., Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Hartselle, with Dr. Jeff Redmond officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Wed., Feb. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mrs. Howell died Mon., Jan. 30, 2012 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Aug. 17, 1933, in Morgan County to John Newt Tanner and Ura Teague Tanner. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Hartselle, where she was active in Sunday School and seniors ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Arthur Howell; her parents; two brothers, Hollis and John W. Tanner; and a sister, Sarah Jane White.

She is survived by a son, Pat Howell of Hartselle; a daughter, Polly Howell Chatham and husband Mark of Huntsville; a grandson, Ethan Howell of Hartselle; two sisters-in-law, Vellene Tanner of Danville and Rhona Summerford of Falkville; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Youth Fund, 210 Woodland St., Hartselle, AL 35640 or to Developmental Disability Ministries of Alabama, 4728 Panorana Drive, Huntsville, AL 35801.
