AARP has first 2012 meeting

Nine members and one guest were present for the first meeting of the new year of AARP Chapter #1841. The meeting was held at the Wedding Chapel on Highway 31 South.

The meeting was called to order by the president, Patricia Moody. Pledge to the flag was made by members.

Rita Cobbs, a mixed-media artist, presented the program with an emphasis on “Recycle, Reuse and Recreate.” She does scrapbooks, beading, knitting, using fiber, fabric, paper and wood. Some of her items were on display. She makes prayer shawls. She challenged the members to make a difference in the lives of others by their efforts and support. Think positive in 2012 was urged.

Courtesy chairperson, Laverne Stacks, reported greeting cards had been mailed to members not able to attend regularly.

Stacks will bring a cake and be the hostess for the February meeting.
