Lady Patriots finish 3rd in Times Classic

Brewer’s Lady Patriots (15-1) defeated Arab 48-41 to capture third place in the Huntsville Times Ladies Classic in Huntsville on Friday.

They reached the final round by posting earlier wins against Grissom and Buckhorn but were denied a shot at the championship by virtue of a 52-51 loss to Austin’s Lady Black Bears.

Courtney Oldacre paced the Lady Patriots against Arab by scoring 15 points. Riley Northway followed with 11 points and Rheagan Harvel had 10 points.

Arab’s Shelby Beam had a game-high 16 points and Cassie Hayes added 10 points.

In the loss to Austin, Brewer’s Northway had 20 points and Courtney Oldacre followed with 14 points.

Austin (15-2) was led by Terrian Smiley with 17 points. She was followed by Zipporah Jackson with 13 points and Teosha Ray with 10 points.

The Lady Patriots led 31-28 at halftime.

Brewer 42, Grissom 22

The Lady Patriots used a stout defense to subdue Grissom by a score of 42-22 in the opening round of the Huntsville Times Classic on Wednesday.

Harvel paced the win with nine points and 5 assists. Cheyenne McLemore added 9 points and 4 steals. Malerie Drinkard had 7 points and 6 rebounds.

Crystal Kessler led Grissom with 10 points.

Brewer 54, Buckhorn 41

Northway scored 15 points to lead the Lady Patriots to a 54-41 win over Buckhorn in the second round of the Times Classic on Thursday. Oldacre followed with 10 points and Harvel had nine points.

Buckhorn’s Jaquelyn Thompson paced her team with 13 points. Nicole Lanzilo added 12 points.
