Funeral for Ricky Sherwin Smith, 53, of Decatur will be Sat., Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be Fri., Dec. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Center Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Mon. Dec. 12, 2011 in Fairborn, Ohio. He was born Dec. 23, 1957, in Joliet, Ill., to Paul Smith and Mable Tanksley Smith. H was preceded in death by his parents. He enjoyed cooking, grilling and doing volunteer work. He was truly devoted to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lenita Rutherford Smith of Decatur; three sons, Jacob Michael McKelvey and wife Dana of Nevada, Dustin Smith and wife Achia of Maryland and Bobby Cannon of Town Creek; a daughter, Samantha Barber and husband Casey of Somerville; a brother, Stephen Smith and wife Michelle of Arkansas; a sister, Peggy Smith and husband Ricky of Speake; and eight grandchildren, Hailey, Keegan, Karley, Caleb, Mira, Nicolas Finn, Reagan and Lydia.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
