Christmas Day falling on a Sunday this year means Hartselle Public Works will observe a longer than usual holiday weekend, stretching from Fri., Dec. 23, through Monday, Dec, 26.

This means schedule changes for garbage, yard waste and recyclables pickup and landfill operations.

The landfill will be closed all four days. Also, there will be no garbage pickup, yard waste pickup (including leaves) and no recyclables pickup.

Garbage pickup will take place the week after Christmas as follows: Mon., Dec. 26 customers ,Tuesday, Dec. 27; Tues., Dec. 27 customers, Wed., Dec. 28; and Wed., Dec. 28 and Thur., Dec. 29 customers, Thur., Dec. 29.

Recyclables pickup will take place all three days (Dec. 27-29). Christmas gift wrappings, plastic. cardboard and other waste items will be picked up at the same time if placed next to the blue recycling carts.

Pubic Works will also be closed Fri., Dec. 30 through Mon. Jan 2 and garbage pickup the week of Jan. 2-5 will take place one day later than usual.
