Student council officers announced at Danville-Neel

The staff at Danville-Neel Elementary School has announced Student Council officers for 2011-2012 as follows: Melissa Pike, president; Samuel Weatherwax, vice president; Cooper McCay, secretary; and Mallory Burcham, treasurer; Third grade representatives are Dakota Fromhold, Taylor Hart, Katie Slayton, Savannah Free, Will Blackwood, Dylan Parker, Ellie Tucker, Kaiya Butler, Owen Burns and Dakota Hanners. Fourth grade representatives are Austin Wilson, Willoe McBride, Jasper Eddy, Evan Prater, Emma Strockine, Madison Cartee, Savanna Pelfrey, Jabe Anderson, Hannah Heath, Weston Campbell and Cal George.

Shady Grove Baptist Church will host a Thanksgiving praise service on Sun., Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. for its members as well as those from Neel United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Special belated happy birthday wishes go out this week to Berthas Self on Nov. 15, Carrie Martin and Carolyn Besnyl, both on Nov. 16.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Devin Johnson, Caroline Partlow and Cindy Nesmith, all on Nov. 19 and Harvey Self and Randy Logan, both on Nov. 20.

Happy belated wedding anniversary wishes go out to Ronnie and Tricia O’Kelley. They celebrated their anniversary on Nov. 16.

Carpenter’s Cabinet food pantry and community resource center will hold its grand opening and open house on Fri., Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. at 44 Railroad Ave. in Falkville. They are accepting non-perishable foods and monetary donations.

Danville-Neel PTO has announced the top classes for collecting Campbell’s and Tyson food labels, as follows: L. Smith—1,000,Williams—748, Compton—669, Henderson—656. Other class totals are: Childers—544, Wenzler—512, Smith—434.Wallace—369, Fields—355, Broadfoot—256, Holland—142, Shaddix—100, Walker—79-Blackman—79, Sherrill—55.

McKendree United Methodist Church members are expecting growth in the nursery and they’re getting prepared for it. The nursery is being placed in a more secure area with doors that will allow for viewing and the nursery is being re-supplied with loads of diapers and wipes and also a baby bed and a changing table.

Church members feel really blessed when they have visiting babies to go along with their own and Stephanie Crawley always has a big grin and open arms for each infant in the nursery. The church members welcome parents to bless them by allowing them to take care of their young children during worship services.
