New Center Baptist seeks gifts for Christmas Child

So often I’m reminded of how things have changed over the last several years. I watched a TV show the other day where they were testing the hest coffee mugs to use while traveling in your vehicle. They were looking for the best one that would keep the beverage hot or cold and which one had the best grip. My point is I can remember when you didn’t eat or drink in a vehicle and we certainly didn’t watch movies while traveling down the highway.

Happy birthday wishes go out to my daddy, Fred Motes who will celebrate high special day on Nov. 13.

Others celebrating birthdays are: Sarah Robinson and Charlie Yeager, both on Nov. 10, Phillip Fichter, Becky Shelton and Stephanie Jansen, all on Nov. 11, Stan Finley, Andrew Fichter, Bud Lucas and Patsy Creel, all on Nov. 12 and Leah Ferguson, Fred Motes and Rusty Arnold, all on Nov. 13.

Happy wedding anniversary wishes go out to Harold and Karen Plemons on Nov. 10, James and Cyndi Lemmond on Nov. 11, John and Kathy Hines on Nov. 13 and Jose and Susan Moral on Nov. 13.

A special thank you to all who contributed to the Trunk or Treat at New Center Baptist Church. What a blessing to be involved in a church with servant hearts—Mandi Cook and Leona Fortinberry.

Looking for a way to receive a blessing this Christmas? Consider Operation Christmas Child. New Center Baptist Church is sponsoring the project this year. The shoebox gifts are due Sun., Nov. 13. Please check in front of the church library and pick up a shoebox and a brochure that has instructions and gift ideas and a label for your box. They request that you send $7.00 to help with the shipping but if you are only able to fill a box, please do so. Some give donations for shipping but please return by Nov. 13. Most of all pray for the child that will receive your box. I recently learned that Operation Christmas Child has delivered shoebox gifts in over 130 countries. So be a blessing to a child this Christmas.

On Friday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day will be observed. May we always remember those who gave their lives for this country as well as those who are serving to protect this country.
