Bethel JV takes second at state

Bethel’s JV volleyball team had a great year finishing with a 14-3 record and finishing second in the state.

Bethel played in the JV State Championship in Oxford against Tuscaloosa Christian Academy. The match was the best of three.

In the first game Bethel got blown out 14, but the Lady Bobcats persevered and won the second game 25-21.

The third and final game was played to 15. Tuscaloosa jumped out to a 7-1 lead, but Bethel came storming back on the momentum of Athena Markhams six straight points. The closest Bethel ever got was three and ended up losing the game 15-10.

Bethel also had two girls named to the all-state team Savannah Markham and Kelly Thrasher. The team is young and as a good shot of competing next year for the title.
