Funeral for Gail Johnson Dougherty, 69, of Decatur will be Mon., Oct. 17, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Wilks officiating.

Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Ms. Dougherty died Fri., Oct. 14, 2011, at her residence. She was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Morgan County to J.D. and Opal Duncan. She was retired from the former Lurleen B. Wallace Center in Decatur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Dougherty; her parents; a brother, Doug Duncan; and a sister, Debbie Brown.

She is survived by two daughters, Theresa Brown of Hartselle and Darlene Simmons of Harvest; a stepson, David Dougherty of Decatur; three brothers, Billy Duncan of Griffin, Ga., Eskel Gene Duncan of Hartselle and Frankie Duncan of Moulton; a sister, Judy Harms of Decatur; four grandchildren, Nicole Westmoreland, Joseph and Amy Brown and Anna Simmons; seven great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren, Claire Robertson and Katie Walden; and a step great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Simmons, Joseph Brown, Josh Westmoreland, Jason Luker, Shawn Duncan and Brett Simmons.

The family thanks Gentiva Hospice of Cullman for the support and kindness shown toward their mother and all of their family members. Thanks also to Wendy, Nancy, Melanie, Fred and Joi and other support staff and Faye Ewing and Nancy Garrison for the companionship you gave her.
