TVP to replace shopper with newspaper

Tennessee Valley Printing Co., Inc., parent company of The Decatur Daily, has launched the Hartselle Courier Journal, a newspaper that will be distributed to 5,600 mailboxes in Hartselle.

The Hartselle Courier Journal is replacing the Shopping Bag newspaper product in Hartselle, according to Scott M. Brown, director of operations for Tennessee Valley Printing.

“We’re taking a product and enhancing it using our resources to include local content so we can better serve our readers and our advertisers,” Brown said.

Brown said Todd Thompson, a former Enquirer sports editor, was named editor and reporter of the Hartselle Courier Journal.

“Todd worked at the Moulton Advertiser and also at the Times-Daily and Courier Journal,” Brown said. “We have a lot of confidence in Todd and his ability to offer our readers in Hartselle something we hope they will enjoy.”

Randy Garrison, publisher for the Hartselle Enquirer and Hartselle native, said additional media  in the community is good for readers and advertisers.

“Competition is good for all, makes us all better,” Garrison said. “We will continue to work hard and produce the very best newspapers, magazines and digital products for our readers, friends and neighbors, the people of Hartselle and surrounding areas, .  As our mission statement reads, we strive to be an integral part of Hartselle and Morgan County by being a leader and a positive influence in our community. That is doubly important to us as we live and work here and make our first stop shopping right here where we earn our living.”
