HHS JV team takes county volleyball title

Hartselle High School’s JV volleyball team defeated Danville three sets to one to claim championship honors in the Morgan County JV Volleyball Tournament at Austin High School last week.

The Lady Tigers dropped their first finals set to the Lady Hawks, 25-27, but came on strong in the next two sets, winning 25-21 and 15-11. In earlier matches, they defeated West Morgan 25-9, 25-10, Priceville 15-11, 25-13 and Brewer 25-13, 25-17.

Hartselle’s leading scorer was Melissa Paul Hill with 32 kills, 23 assists, 18 digs and nine aces. Following her were Katy Beth Bole with 16 kills and 10 blocks; Natalie Johnson with 14 kills, 10 digs and four aces; Mary Claire Swann with 10 kills and 10 digs; Jordan Barbrey with seven kills, 37 assists, 17 digs and seven aces; Christina Holmes with 34 digs; and Mallory Faulkner with five kills.
