Danville wins area tournament, will host regional

Danville (36-26) defeated West Morgan in the finals of the Class 3A, Area 15 Tournament Monday night at Danville by the score 25-11, 17-25, 25-22, 25-17.

Both the Lady Hawks and the Lady Rebels will play in the Class 3A, Region D Tournament on Saturday at Danville.

Danville will play at 10 a.m. with West Morgan playing at 11:30 a.m.

In the semifinals, Danville beat Clements 25-17, 25-15, 25-20. West Morgan defeated Elkmont in the other semifinal 3 sets to none.

Statistical leaders for Danville include Sydni Shelton with 42 kills and four blocks, Jada Callahan with 18 kills and 22 digs and Megan Luker with 12 kills.

Haley Rae Garnett led the team with 57 assists and seven aces. Hannah McClung added three blocks while Keri Callahan had 23 digs.

All Area team members were: Macall Gosset and Sydney Marks from Clements; Tiffany Adams and Abigail Schrimsher from Elkmont; Hayden Hamby, Mary Kelley and Kristen Parrish from West Morgan; and Haley Rae Garnett, Jada Callahan, Keri Callahan and tournament MVP Sydni Shelton from Danville.
