Funeral for Stanley Albert Goodner, 73, of Valhermoso Springs will be Fri., Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church with the Revs. Tim Patrick, Melvin Brown and Don Trosper officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Thur., Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery.

Mr. Goodner died Tues., Sept. 13, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Morgan County to William Albert Goodner and Ruth Agnes Early Goodner. He attended Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting fishing and boating. He also enjoyed being in the company of his grandchildren. He was preceded in death his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Brown Goodner of Valhermoso Springs; a son, Ty Goodner of Valhermoso Springs; a daughter, Tonya Vandiver and husband Terry of Valhermoso Springs; a brother, Carl Goodner of Lacey’s Spring; two sisters, Reba Elders of Lacey’s Spring and Helen Maxwell of Somerville; five surviving grandchildren, Brandon Goodner, Dustin Goodner, Chace Goodner, Wesley Vandiver and Chyna Vandiver; and a great-grandchild, Micah Goodner.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and Gary Eckstein, Tim Brown and Eddie Langley.
