Morgan County voters have one week left to request an absentee ballot for both the General Election and Hartselle Special Election Nov. 2.
Any qualified voter who has a legitimate reason for not being able to vote in person on Election Day may apply for an absentee ballot through Oct. 28. This may be at done at the Circuit Clerk’s office on the fourth floor of the Morgan County Courthouse for the General Election ballot or the city clerk/recorder’s office at Hartselle Municipal Building for the special election.
One voter may request a ballot for another person (a college student for example), however, the person who receives the ballot must be the one to return it either in person or by mail.  Hand-delivered ballots must be received not later than Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. and mailed ballots must be received not later than election day at noon.
Both ballots may be down loaded from one or both of the following web sites: alabamavotes.gov and sos.state.al.us.gov.
City Clerk/Controller Rita Lee said she had received 51 requests for absentee ballots as of Monday morning.
That’s six more than the entire number of requests received prior to the last General Election.  A spokesperson for the Circuit Clerk’s office said lots of people are requesting absentee ballots for this year’s General Election.
