Oden Ridge News

Summer’s heat on the way out with cool days ahead

I must apologize again for not getting the news out. We have had a very bad summer. Things are looking up a little but our family needs prayer, too.
Has this not been one of the hottest summers on record? People all over have fought fleas and ticks. There has been an overflow of them.
Thank God fall is only a month away.
The big news in Oden Ridge was the wedding of Chad Word and Chrystal Parrish. Chad is the son of Kenneth and Betty Ward. His grandparents are Sally Puckett and the late Troy Puckett and Mrs. and Mrs. Harold Ward.
The wedding was held Saturday at Kenneth and Betty’s home. There were around 250 present. They are honeymooning in Jamaica.
I enjoyed a visit last week with Mary McElvey. She was real glad to see me and seems to be doing OK but keep her in your prayers.
Others also need prayer. Christine Kinney had surgery on her foot. Also, my great-grandson, Chase Jesse, who has cancer. My brother-in-law Ritchie Bohnet has cancer also. Also, Maudie Garnett, who has had all her treatments.
Please remember all these people in prayer. Also pray for my friend, Dorothy Hoover and remember Margaret Smith, who lost her husband.
Happy late birthday to my youngest daughter, Leisha DeQusoda on Aug. 18.
Oden Ridge Fire Station is looking great. They have the parking lot paved and the grass in. We are very proud of our volunteer fire department.
Hubert and Ruby Oden are doing okay after Hubert’s bout with pneumonia. They enjoyed eating out Saturday at Johnny’s Barbecue with Brynda Aday.
I have more sick people for the prayer list. An old friend, Margie Cryer, is in Decatur General with a blood clot in her brain. Prayer for her and her husband, Ollie, too. Also, Jim Campbell and Louise and his brother, Eugene Campbell.
We were glad to have our son and grandson, Joe Simmons, home for a few days. Joe lives in Maryland and works for Boeing.
Journey Church showed movies to the kids on Saturday. This was to pay for a trip for the kids.
Mt. View also showed a good family movie Saturday night. They plan to have a movie day one Saturday a month.
