Local singer releases CD

When you ask local musician Anna Craig what her songs are about, she won’t respond with any of the “traditional” country topics – coon dogs, huntin’, or heartbreak. However, many of her songs are focused on a common theme.
“I write about boys a lot,” Cain, a Hartselle High School senior, said.
Craig’s debut CD, which was released in July, features songs about boys, love and life in a small town, all sung in a clear, resonate voice.
Watching a televised performance by country musicians, Craig’s videos caught the attention of Chris Via, a Florida musician who encouraged Craig to record her songs. In June, Craig visited Sound Mind Studios in Daytona Beach, where she recorded three songs she had previously written, in addition to writing two more songs for the CD.
Craig describes the result as “a mix between Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood,” two of her favorite country musicians. However, the CD has been embraced by listeners far beyond the South, where country reigns supreme.  Orders for Craig’s CD have come in from countries around the world, including Australia and Great Britain.
While music is an important part of Craig’s life, she sets aside her guitar long enough to be involved in several extracurricular activities. In addition to being involved in the Hartselle High School chorus program and her church’s youth praise band, she is a cross country runner.
After graduation, she plans to attend college at either Samford University or Auburn University.  However, she probably won’t become a music major. Instead, she hopes to major in pharmacy and work at a pharmacist in Nashville, where she can also pursue her country music passion.       A hard copy of Craig’s CD can be purchased online at www.annacraigmusic.com/store, while digital copies can be purchased  on ITunes and Amazon.
