Sounding off on Falkville’s wet/dry vote
“The rest of Falkville’s wet dry vote. I have lived in Falkville for 13 years, am a registered voter for many years, have served in the military but on June 1 when I went to vote on the wet/ dry issue I was told I could not vote because I did not live in the city limits of Falkville. Needless to say I was shocked. When the police or fire department need donations they don’t hesitate to come knocking on my door for Falkvillle outside of the city limits. So my question is when am I a Falkville resident? Only when they need money but not to vote?”

Sounding off on new school
“How many more roadblocks & increases in proposed expenses will have to be thrown at the city council before everyone realizes that. This is a horrible idea. A new school is not needed at this time. If the current building is in such bad shape that we “must” have a new building in which to teach our high school children, then why in the name of all that is sane would it be safe enough to house our junior high children? Wake up!
This country is in trouble from excessive, unnecessary spending and this is just more of the same.”

“ In my opinion, the superintendent and the school board should be commended. Funds that are designated for building construction and maintenance costs cannot be used to fund employees and money for personnel cannot be spent for building upgrades. In other words, you can’t ‘pinch a penny’ from a music teacher and use it to build a safe room at the new high school. Codes like ’safe rooms’ are not a choice, they are a mandated code from the State.
Thanks to the superintendent and the board, Hartselle City Schools did not have to lay off 140-plus employees. Thank you HCS administrators for making the tough choices that kept your employees working. Thank you to all employees who have worked as a team to fill in the gaps. You are the best.
Parents and others in the community who want to complain?
Why don’t you use some of your “complaint” time by volunteering at the schools to help out by mowing the grass, cleaning toilets, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming…to help the custodians and cafeteria workers. I’m sure they would be willing to accept your assistance.”

Commenting on Builders for Christ
“I think its a great thing that they are doing for the church and the community. I went to church at Mt. Zion a few weeks ago and it was wonderful to see people from all over the south coming together to help each other.”
