Funeral for Betty Johnson Shelton, 78, of Decatur was Wed., April 14, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Pressnell officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Ms. Shelton died Sun., April 11, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Morgan County to Clyde and Amanda Moss Sandlin. She retired from the city school system - a job she loved while seeing the children each day along with her co-workers. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Garland Sandlin; and a sister, Edna Sandlin Shipley. She enjoyed her kind neighbors and spoke often of the love she had for her church and her church family at Austinville Flint Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Johnson Glenn and husband Howard, Myra Johnson Aldridge and husband Gary and Trish Johnson Henderson and husband Scott, all of Decatur; eight grandchildren, Stacy Kent Patterson and husband Daryl, Jason Cowan and wife Kim, Jared Kent and wife Jennifer, Adam Alexander, Abi Alexander, Amy Houk and husband Jeff, Kristi Glenn, Landin Henderson; eight great-grandchildren, Meggie Owen-Patterson, Karli Patterson, Logan Cowan, Gabrielle Shedd, Reagan Lyon, Carter Farris and Owen and Ryan Houk; a sister, Martha Carmichael; a niece, Sherry Lowery and husband Jake; a great-niece, Babette Shedd and husband Rusty; and nephews, Donald Shipley and wife Gwen and Larry Shipley, all of Decatur.
