Funeral for C.C. Mitchell Jr., 81, of Hartselle was Friday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Patterson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Hartselle.
Mr. Mitchell died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 16, 1927, in Morgan County to Corbit Charles Mitchell Sr. and Thelma Hopper Mitchell. He was a lifetime member of Gum Springs Baptist Church. He loved his family, gardening and enjoyed various hobbies, including collectibles, antiques and a variety of other things. He was known as ‘Hubcap Mitchell’. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Mitchell.
He is survived by a son, Johnny C. Mitchell and wife Kelle of Birmingham; three daughters, Judy Looney and husband Charles Wayne of Hartselle, Teresa Phillips and husband Jimmy of Decatur and Peggy Griffith and husband Maurice of Somerville; three brothers, Obie Mitchell of Ohio, Bobby Mitchell and Wesley Mitchell, both of California; three sisters, Mable Maze of Decatur, Margie Anders of Massey and Linda Nichols of Arab; and a grandchild, Pamela Burgeson and husband Mark of Hartselle.
Pallbearers were Charles W. Looney, Maurice Griffith, Jimmy Phillips, James Brooks, Austin Kellett and Mark Burgeson.
