The driver of the SUV who caused three traffic mishaps on Main Street in Hartselle on Sept. 9, has been charged with five misdemeanor violations and is awaiting trial in Municipal Court Nov. 6.
Cindy Jones, 36, of 12025 Chickamauga Trail, Huntsville, was arrested by Hartselle police officers after she was released from Hartselle Medical Center Sept. 11 and charged with four offenses stemming from the three accidents. She faces charges of possession of prohibited liquor, DUI, reckless endangerment and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
Jones was injured when the vehicle she was driving collided with a Morgan County special needs school bus at the intersection of Main and Chestnut Street at about 4 p.m.
She was transported to HMC where she was treated and released two days later. The bus driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the hospital and released the same day.
The accident occurred as Jones was driving west on Main and the bus was moving east on Main. Earlier, Jones was implicated in two other traffic accidents.
Her vehicle struck a city-owned truck at the intersection of Echols and Main and a pickup truck at the intersection of Sycamore and Main. Two city employees sustained minor injures and were transported to HMC. They were treated and released.
All three accidents occurred within a seven-block area.
