Funeral for Henry Edsel Stone, 80, of Decatur was Monday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Blackmon officiating.
Burial with military honors was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mr. Stone died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at his residence. He was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Marion County to Quinton Stone and Ila Mae Duncan Stone. He was a member of East Highland Baptist Church in Hartselle, Masonic Lodge Hiram#110, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a charter member of the UAW Local #2195, serving as co-chair of the retirees committee and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Stone of Decatur; a son, Gregory Stone of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Tamie Cook of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Jordan Stone, Grayson Stone, Joshua Stone and Grant Stone.
Pallbearers were Charles Ray, Sam Gulley, Christopher Stidham, Willard Coffey, Mickey Smith and Danny Stephenson.
