Betty Inez Collier Thrasher

Funeral for Betty Inez Collier Thrasher, 81, of Decatur was Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Rideout’s Brown with Gary Patton officiating.
Burial was at Forest Chapel Cemetery near Hartselle. Betty died Friday, August 22, 2008, at Parkway Hospital. She was born June 12, 1927, in Vinemont, the second of eight children born to Roy Shelby and Elizabeth Fay (Kelley) Collier. She resided in Vinemont, Hartselle and finally Decatur. Betty was primarily a homemaker, although she worked for several years at Redstone Arsenal and in later years at a day care and also the local farmer’s market.
After successfully raising four sons, she has enjoyed various interests, including crocheting baby afghans for family and friends and spending time with family. She was a faithful member of Somerville Road church of Christ.
She is survived by four sons, Thomas N. (Jerretta) Thrasher, Daniel L. (Pam) Thrasher, and Bill Thrasher, all of Decatur and David L. (Theresa) Thrasher of Hartselle. She is also survived by three sisters, Peggye Ratliff, of Decatur, Helen Donnelly, of Margaret, AL and Nell Brantley, of Ft. Collins, CO, and one brother, Fred Collier, of St. Petersburg, FL. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thrasher was predeceased by her husband, Newton C. Thrasher, her parents, one brother, Roy Collier, Jr., one sister, Fay Collier.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tommy Thrasher, Daniel Thrasher, Ben Thrasher, and Jon Thrasher, and family friends Justin Wright and Max Wright.
