Cramer hosting academy day

By Staff
U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer, D-Alabama, will host his annual Military Academy Day for all high school students in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District, Sept. 7 in Madison. Cramer is inviting students, families and guidance counselors to come and learn about the requirements and procedures for attending one of the U.S. military academies.
The event will take place from 2-4 p.m. in the Madison Academy Cafeteria. Madison Academy is located at 325 Slaughter Road in Madison.
At Cramer’s invitation, representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will attend. The academy representatives will answer questions and distribute information about their respective institutions.
Rep. Cramer nominates outstanding students each year for appointments to our nation’s five military academies. A member of Congress can nominate students to attend an academy if the students meet the eligibility requirements and live in the representative’s congressional district. Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District includes all or part of Colbert, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, and Morgan Counties.
All nomination applications must be submitted to Congressman Cramer’s office by Oct. 15. For more information visit the Congressman’s website at http://cramer.house.gov.
