GOP fires back at former member’s claims

Officials with Morgan County’s Republican party are firing back at new Democrat Stacy George, calling his move away from the GOP nothing more than sour grapes.
In a press release sent out last week, Clay Marlow, chairman of the Morgan County Republican Party, said George’s party change wasn’t driven by philosophical issues.
Marlow said George’s dislike of Sheriff Greg Bartlett and Revenue Commissioner Amanda Scott represented “a truly selfish reason” to change parties.
Marlow also fired back at George’s assertion he had been attending Democratic fundraisers for the past two years.
