Funeral for George William Southard, 64, of Hartselle was Monday, May 5, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Rev. David Gamble officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the Reeves Family Cemetery in Hartselle.
Mr. Southard died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Jan. 13, l944, in Madison County to George Robert Southard and Nellie Elmore Southard. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Southard of Hartselle; a son, Robert Southard and wife Kristi of Houston, Tex.; two brothers, John Southard and wife Sandra of Harvest and Danny Southard and wife Kelli of Athens; a sister, Marilyn Laxson and husband Michael of Athens; and three grandchildren, Lily, John and Rose Southard.
Pallbearers were Ernest Auston, Bill Darby, Bill Bell, Al Lowery, Phillip Matthews, James Matthews, Andy Stowe and Wendell Holmes.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the PHOBE group at Bethel Baptist Church.
