Man arrested for pot operation

By Staff
A tip led the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department to take to the sky to nab a suspected marijuana grower.
Gordon Johnson of Priceville is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia following an April 22 search of his home. The Morgan County Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force had earlier been informed by the Priceville Police Department that Johnson, 133 Pine Street in Decatur, was suspected of growing marijuana behind his home. Using the Sheriff’s Air Wing helicopter, they found marijuana growing behind the home. Agents then searched the home and found an illegal marijuana grow operation complete with high-tech lighting and nutritional supplements. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also found inside the home, sheriff’s officials said.
Johnson is being held on $1,050 bond.
