Funeral for Charles Henry Brewster Jr., 78, of Somerville was Thursday, Apr. 24, at 11 a.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Patterson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
A military graveside service was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Brewster died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 5, 1929, in Georgia to Charles Henry Brewster Sr. and Ruth Cochran Brewster. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Masons, Shriners and Gum Springs Baptist Church. He was a good husband and father and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Matthew Brewster Sr. and Charles Wayne Brewster.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Brewster of Somerville; two sons, Carl Henry Brewster and Ronald Fell Brewster, both of Somerville; a daughter, Cynthia Diane Reese of Hartselle; two daughters-in-law, Shelia Ann Brewster and Phyllis Gilchrist Brewster, both of Somerville; a brother, Robert Joseph Brewster Sr. of Satsuma; a sister, Emily Ruth Cooper of Emelle; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were members of a military honor guard.
