The Wallace State-Hanceville Commercial Foods/Culinary Arts program is now accepting students for the summer semester. Interested students may visit www.wallacestate.edu to view the complete course schedule or call Chef Chris Villa at 352-8132 for more information.
In addition, the program is offering three new training opportunities this summer. Villa will lead a Servesafe Test-Prep and Certification course June 9-12 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. in the Wallace State Banquet Hall. The certification test will be given on June 12. The fee for the course is $150 and includes the “Servsafe Essentials, 5th edition” textbook. Interested participants should register by May 26 by contacting Staci Bryan at 256/352-8166 or staci.bryan@wallacestate.edu.
Villa will also be offering two catering courses this summer. Secrets of Catering 101 will focus on the tips and tricks of the business including pricing, planning, food preparation and profit. The course will be offered Mondays, June 16-30 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. in the Wallace State Banquet Hall. The fee is $89. Secrets of Catering 102 will expand on the concepts learned in the 101 course to include accounting, marketing and maximizing employee output. The course will be offered on Mondays, July 17-21 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. in the Wallace State Banquet Hall. The fee is $89.
