County grudge match

DECATUR - Jeremy Talley scored a hat trick as Brewer dominated Hartselle 4-0 in the second round of the Morgan County Soccer Championships Saturday afternoon at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
The tournament, hosted by Hartselle, was scheduled to wrap up Saturday night, but inclement weather Friday pushed the schedule back several days.
The third round of the tournament will be played Wednesday with Hartselle’s girls facing Austin at 4 p.m.
Teams earn points in the tournament based on their number of wins, shutouts and goals scored.
Grant Pierce also scored for the Patriots in the shutout win.
Talley scored twice in the opening half and added the Patriots’ only goal of the second half to cap the scoring.
Decatur 2, Brewer 1
Raul Alanis scored twice in the first half to lead Decatur to a 2-1 victory over Brewer, the team that beat the Red Raiders in the county championship game last season.
Kohl Sowder scored Brewer’s lone goal - a first half score that gave the Patriots an early 1-0 lead.
Neither team was able to score in the second half.
Decatur 4, Hartselle 1
Erik Sjoberg scored Hartselle’s only goal in a 4-1 loss to Decatur.
Decatur’s Raul Alanis scored twice to lead the Red Raiders, who also got goals from Matt Mayfield and Michael Alfano in the win.
W. Morgan 4, Priceville 0
West Morgan’s Barrett Terry, Jared Spooner, Iva Uriostegui and Jorge Torreblanca scored a goal each as the Rebels beat Priceville 4-0.
Hartselle 2, Priceville 1
Stephen Owen and Zack Woodruff scored goals to give Hartselle all the offense it needed against Priceville.
Priceville’s Jonathan Savoy scored the Bulldogs’ only goal.
Brewer 2, Priceville 0
Grant Pierce scored both of Brewer’s goals in a win over Priceville in the Patriots’ second shutout of the day.
Girls’ games
Austin 3, Brewer 2
Arlee Sowder and Brittany O’Driscoll both scored goals in Brewer’s 3-2 loss to Austin.
O’Driscoll’s early goal gave the Lady Patriots a 1-0 lead, but Austin scored three straight goals to take a commanding lead.
Brewer’s final goal came when Sowder scored in the second half.
Decatur 8, Brewer 0
Decatur dominated Brewer with an eight-goal performance on the first day of the tournament.
Georgia Gamble scored two goals, while Sarah Beth Henderson, Megan Schmidt and Meg Adams, Taylor Rutherford, Madison Dunlap and Allie Lyons all added one goal each for the Lady Red Raiders in the win.
Decatur girls 3, Hartselle 0
Hartselle goalkeeper Raine Nicholas recorded 28 saves in a 3-0 loss to Decatur.
Meg Adams, Taylor Rutherford and Lindsey Hawkins scored goals for the Lady Red Raiders.
Brewer 4, Priceville 0
Hannah Chunn, Case Campbell, Jordan Page and Danielle Dunn all scored goals as Brewer beat Priceville 4-0.
Austin 3, Priceville 0
Priceville lost to Austin 3-0 Saturday after Leslie Kirk scored twice for the Lady Black Bears.
Rachel Holm added a goal for Austin.
Hartselle 1, Brewer 1
Hartselle and Brewer played to a 1-1 tie in a matchup of county rivals.
Brewer’s Hannah Chunn scored on an assist by Danielle Dunn to give the Patriots their only goal of the game.
Hartselle’s Johanna McAnally scored for the Lady Tigers on an assist by Allie Teal.
Hartselle 4, W. Morgan 0
Allie Teal scored three times as Hartselle blasted West Morgan 4-0.
Teal scored all three goals in the first half.
Jessica Owens scored the Lady Tigers’ fourth goal.
Johanna McAnally had three assists and Owens finished with one assist.
Hartselle 1, Priceville 0
Allie Teal scored off a cross kick by Johanna McAnally in the second half to send Hartselle to a win over Priceville.
Teal’s goal came in the 54th minute.
Priceville 4, W. Morgan 1
Priceville dominated West Morgan 4-1 with goals from Courtney Chaffin, Tana Chaffin, Jordan Crow and Elizabeth Wheeler.
