Timothy V. Gelatt, 54, of Elkhart, Iowa, formerly of Hartselle, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral was held Friday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. at Ankeny Baptist Church. A funeral was also held at Bethel Baptist Church in Hartselle on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Gelatt was born July 1, 1953, in Arlington, Va. to Paul and Maxine Gelatt. He was a minister of the gospel and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by an infant son, T.J.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Anita Gelatt of Elkhart; four daughters, Kim Gibson and husband Jonathan of Somerville, Katy Peters and husband Shawn of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Beth Gelatt, a student at Piedmont Baptist College in Winston Salem, N.C. and Amy Gelatt of Elkhart; his parents, Paul and Maxine Gelatt; four grandchildren Zoe and Elijah Gibson and Shawn Timothy and Victoria Peters; siblings, Gary, Mark, Mathew and Judy; and a large extended family.
Pallbearers were Ben Darby, Shannon Kirby, David Gelatt, Drew Gelatt, Nick O’Neal, Jonathan Gelatt, Christopher McKibben, Gary Gelatt, Mark Gelatt, Matthew Gelatt, Jonathan Gibson, Shawn Peters, Bill Darby, Phillip O’Neal and Jeff Kirby.
Honorary pallbearers were James Stringer Sr., James Stringer Jr., Ryan Stringer and Zack Borden.
