Hartselle opens with two wins

Garrett Turrentine helped Hartselle open its 2008 season with a bang, hitting a pair of homers in a 13-0 victory over Albertville.
The Tigers added a 5-3 victory over Pelham in the nightcap to open the season with a 2-0 mark.
Turrentine finished with three hits in the win and finished with six RBIs. He hit a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning and followed with a grand slam in the fourth inning.
Chad Girodo picked up the win after allowing just one hit in four innings. He finished with five strikeouts.
Tony Weaver scored three runs in the win. He finished the day with five runs.
Hartselle scored seven times in the fourth inning.
Hartselle’s J.C. Bates earned the win in the second game after striking out seven in five innings. He allowed just one hit in the win.
Ethan Widener doubled with the bases loaded in the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie and send the Tigers to the win.
Hartselle will host Gadsden and Etowah in a three-team series Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
Priceville earns split
Priceville split a doubleheader with McAdory Monday.
McAdory won the first game 9-8, while Priceville came back to win the second game 7-6.
Jeremy Hale hit a two-run homer in the Bulldogs’ win. He also picked up the win with four strikeouts in two innings.
Gene Blankenship went 2-for-3 with a single and a double, while Matt Croft and Brock Boyd both had doubles.
The Bulldogs got a 3-run homer from Croft in the opening game. Kody Etheridge also added a double with two RBIs.
