Darlene Michelle Johnson, 10, of Nucla, Colo., died Thursday, January 31, 2008, after being diagnosed with Leukemia at St Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. Darlene was born to Robert Asbury Johnson and Beverly Darlene Johnson on Feb. 3, 1997, in San Diego, Calif. She moved to Montrose, Colo., when her dad retired from the United States Navy, at the age of two. She loved outdoor recreation, fishing and hiking and had a great love for ice skating. She also loved to color and do art work.
She is survived by her father Robert Johnson and stepmom Beverly Dean Johnson of Nucla, Colo., her mother, Beverly Hensley of Naturita, Colo.; grandparents, Pruitt and Sue Johnson of Hartselle, grandmother, Phyllis Gleason of Montrose Colo., grandfather Gary; step-grandmother Laura Gleason of Olathe, step-grandparents, Larry and Avis Cooper of Nucla, Colo; two sisters, Carrie Jean Cobb of Nucla, Colo., Tammy Essabbar and husband Woodia of Nampa, Idaho, two brothers, Michael Johnson of Nampa, Idaho and Stephen Kiser and wife Natalie of Temecula, Calif.; stepbrother and sisters, Jerry and Erin Skees of Montrose, Colo., Becky and Travis Lenz of Greeley, Colorado and Christy and Kerry Gardner of Hugo, Colo.; and eight aunts and uncles in and near Hartselle.
