MADISON – Although small in number, the Decatur Aquatic Club Sharks made their presence felt at the state swim meet.
Monica Pistorius won three gold medals and Ian Cummins won one gold medal at the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) State Swimming and Diving Championships in Madison's Dublin Park Aquatic Center this past weekend. The event, which was held in Madison for the first time, featured 1,013 swimmers representing 29 different teams.
Decatur's contingent of 23 swimmers was one of the smaller teams at the event, yet the Sharks earned a total of 17 individual medals and two relay team medals in the competitions.
